Smile Enhancement

Certain medical conditions, such as being born with dark staining of teeth, make it difficult for some people to care for their smile. Over time teeth naturally yellow, darken, or become crooked.
Cosmetic dentistry can give back a youthful smile to someone middle-aged or older, or allow instant correction of bad teeth to a much better end result.
Using the menu on the right you will learn about procedures like bonding, veneers, whitening and more.

Bonding (Composite Resin Bonding)

A process by which enamel-like resin is bonded to a tooth's surface, sculpted to an ideal shape, hardened, and polished.
Bonding covers discolorations, repairs chips, breaks and cracks and fills in gaps. It is a virtually painless procedure that is usually completed in one visit.
Periodically, it may have to be recoated or replaced, since it usually lasts from three to five years.

Recovery

1 to 2 days.

Bridge

A fixed or removable dental appliance which replaces lost teeth.
There are two types of bridges:
Fixed Bridge: This bridge is cemented in place over the teeth just like a single crown, and is not removable. Bridges can be made of white porcelain, gold, a silver colored metal, or a combination of these. A fixed bridge is the most realistic method of replacing teeth, both in appearance and chewing comfort.
Removable Partial: This is designed to be inserted and removed by the patient. It is held in place by metal clasps surrounding your natural teeth. It can be used in place of a fixed bridge or in cases where a fixed bridge cannot be used.

Recovery

1 to 2 days.

Cosmetic Contouring

Reshaping the natural teeth to make a straighter or more youthful appearance.
Enamel shaping is a process of contouring natural teeth to improve their overall appearance. When teeth are slightly crowded or uneven, or when eye teeth appear too long, enamel shaping may be used to correct the flaw.
Enamel shaping involves modifying teeth by removing or contouring enamel to create harmony and balance in the mouth. This more conservative process cannot solve all problems.
Crowded teeth may need braces.

Recovery

1 to 2 days.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants are specialized titanium fixtures placed into the jaw underneath the gum that biologically bond to living bone. Once healed, they act as anchors to allow the attachment of porcelain or acrylic teeth.
Dental Implants restore the natural look, feel and function of natural teeth. You'll be able to chew, enjoy and digest your food, and look and feel better. Imagine biting into a fresh apple again!

Recovery

In between the first and second surgery there is a recovery period of 3 to 6 months while the implants associate with the bone.

Dentures

False teeth that are fixed to a small piece of (usually) plastic, which fits inside the mouth of a person who does not have his or her own teeth.

Recovery

Immediately.

Inlays and Onlays

More conservative than a crown, inlays and onlays are two methods of restoring normal tooth structure after decay or other damage.
The decay or damage is removed using a drill, preparing the tooth for its new surface. After all the damage is removed, an impression is made of the prepared tooth so the inlay or onlay material can be cast in a form that will fit the tooth exactly.
Using the impression, a laboratory prepares the new tooth surface using gold, porcelain or composite resin. Upon return to the dentist's office, the temporary restoration is removed and the surface is cleaned to prepare for the new structure. The dentist will then try the new restoration to ensure that there is a correct fit that doesn't interfere with your bite. If the fit is good, using special cement or bonding, the inlay or onlay is permanently attached to the tooth.

Recovery

Immediately.

Laminating

Applies a thin porcelain or composite resin veneer to a tooth.

Recovery

Immediately.

Mouthguards and Nightguards

Mouthguards and Nightguards are used during activities that can damage the teeth, most often during contact sports and, surprisingly, during sleep.
Usually, custom mouthguards are made from a cast of your teeth, they provide the best comfort and protection. They are more expensive, but most people report that they are well worth it. Not only are they more comfortable, but they also optimize healthy breathing.
Nightguards are custom mouthguards made for the whole mouth, or just part of the mouth. Usually a spacer is attached to keep the rest of your teeth from touching. Your dentist will advise you on which type of guard is best for your condition.

Tooth Whitening

This is a non-invasive and affordable procedure and it is effective in 75% of all patients.
Your dentist will likely offer you the choice between a home program or an in-office procedure.
Bleaching gel is applied to the teeth (activated by light, laser or not) until the degree of whiteness is achieved.

Recovery

1 to 2 days.

Veneers

Ultra-thin, specially made laminates that are bonded to teeth.
Especially useful for repairing chipped, cracked, or worn teeth. Veneers are thin custom made shells made of tooth-colored materials that are designed to cover the front side of teeth.
They are fabricated by a dental technician, usually in a commercial dental laboratory, from a model provided by the dental office.
Veneers are used to close gaps or cover teeth that are stained, poorly shaped, or slightly crooked.

Recovery

1 to 2 days.
